    HISTORY OF ST EDMUND SECONDARY SCHOOL
    St. Edmund catholic church was an out station of All saints Catholic Parish Nkpor_Agu.The The establishment  of the school in 1997 was therefore a brainchild of  Rev. Fr Dr. Ikenga Metu of the blessed memory, who was then the Parish Priest Of All Saints Parish The pioneer Principal Mr John Chukwurah E.C signed on 29th September 1997 with and the normal classes started on 6th October 1997 with the proposed to be registered as a COMPREHENSIVE SECONDARY SCHOOL. It took off with teachers, Miss Ezinwanne Anthonia Nnneka, Miss Obi Perpetua and one typist Mrs Obidigbo Martina Uchechukwu, with the population of about fifty(50) students.
       The growth of the school was a very slow within her early years, manly due to the fact that it was located at the outskirt of the town. On 28th June 2002,a board of the governors was constituted to direct the affairs of the school with the following members: Obiano C.E, Anisiobi A (Miss), Onyike F.N (Mrs) and Uche Alphonsus.
      From the inception of the school, managers have come and gone but not without leaving their foot prints on the sand of development of the school, the founding manager was Rev. Fr. Dr. Ikenga Metu from 1997 to 1999. Rev. Fr. John Okeke managed the school from All Saints Parish from 1999 to 15/1/2001, when Rev.Fr. Dr. Alphonsus Okonkwo took over as the pastoral administrator, St Edmund Church became an independent out-station. He consequently devoted time not only to the improvement of the church but also to the school. The school made appreciable improvement and the first move to register the government was made though unaccomplished before he left in April 2002. Rev. Fr. Lawrence Ezeolisa signed in on 21st April 2002.This period of Fr. Law. Seemed to be the most eventful and glorious year in the history of the school. On assumption of duty he inherited the student’s population of about one hundred. He gave so much of his time and resources to the school, that there was a conspicuous face lift in infrastructural development and increase in student enrolment as staffing greatly improved.
    The manager inherited the principal Mrs Maria Okolie and the vice principal Miss Oguejiofor M.A among others and work with them until the end of August 2004, when the principal left the management.
    In September 2044 a new principal, chief Obiogbolu Pius N., a retired principal special class II officer was recruited by the manager with the challenge to get the school registration and approved by the government and accredited by west African examination council (WAEC) and National Examination Council (NECO) for senior challenges, the new principal took up with a promise to deliver when he signed in on 6th September 2004.
    All preparation for the ministry of education inspection were put in place. The school was inspected on 29/9/2005 and the approval gotten on 16th EDUMUND SECONDARY SCHOOL NKPOR AGU. Inspection for upgrading following in 2006 and as a result the upgrading letter dated 6th December 2006 was celebrated amidst jubilation by both parent teacher and student. As a result of the upgrading the school registration the first batch of the students for JSC in 2007.
    The preparation for the next round of inspection by the ministry of education were at the top gear when Rev, Fr. Law Ezeolisa (the manager) was transferred and Rev. Fr. Donald Uzoh came in as the Parish Priest and manager of the in January 2008 Fr. Donald, another education friendly manager faced the task with equal vigour. The required laboratories were put in place and were well equipped. The expected next round of the ministry of Education inspection came up on 13th may 2008 and the school became honoured with a letter from the ministry dated 17/6/2008 recommending the school for (WAEC) and NECO(SSCE) Senior school certificate examination. Inspection by WAEC and NECO followed with their letter of accreditation  dated 12th September 2008 and 24th April 209 respectively. The first batch for SSCE for both WAEC and NECO was registered for May/June 2009.Tthese remarkable achievements of the school in less than five years shot the school into lime light and student’s population increased astronomically, to the glory of God.
    The exit of Rev. Fr. Donald Uzoh in September 2010 gave room to Rev. Fr. David Ojukwu as the parish priest with a young vibrant Rev. Fr. Mathias Okolo as the vicar Rev. Fr. Okolo was given the position of the school manager. This position he occupies until October 2012
    Facing the task squarely. The period of this young manager so far can be described as

    The uncompleted two story class room /Administration building is complete with good reinforcement. The toilet facilities urinary are modernized. The compound wall completed and all structure painted to taste the tone of the school is high in terms of discipline. Punctuality to school is watch word of all both teachers and student. Examination ethics is seriously enforce remain our goal.
          The administration of the school is streamlined, everything working for the school. Teacher’s welfare is paramount in the mind of the administration.
    With the exit of the Fr. Mathias Okolo in October 2012, another Rev.Fr. A very young and active vicar named Rev.Fr. George Okpara took over manager ship. He too is education friendly, very eager to learn from anyone who has something to offer. He champion the production the current edition of an unbeatable school calendar. He also show ceased a cultural edition unbeatable school calendar. He also show cased a cultural day that is second to one which appeared in booth print and electronic media. He tirelessly to see that the first edition of the school Magazine remember fro appreciating people’s efforts and encouraging them.
          A new principal was enlisted this term to take over from Chief Obiogbolu. Mr Michael AneneOkoye as he is called, is an experienced and second education administrator.
          St. Edmund secondary school is ranked among the best schools in this area in terms of academic and discipline. It is a school with prospect; it may in a very near future metamorphose in to a boarding school. It is then that the truth in the slogan of the student below will manifest in full.
